How to stop nuisance calls

How to stop nuisance calls from organisations that are selling or offering something you don’t want! Another issue that I hear a lot about from our customers are nuisance sales calls. And sometimes even SPAM text messages. Unfortunately, stopping these calls can be very difficult, as many of the calls are made from call centres abroad offshore and so outside of UK Law. However, you can still reduce unwanted sales calls by registering with the Telephone Preference Service. It is easiest, if you are able, to register online but if you do not have internet access at home you can call: 0845 070 0707 to register instead. The service is free and you should be wary of anyone asking you to pay to opt out of sales calls. If asked to do so, do not pay anything in any circumstances. Registration to this service should cut out calls from bona fide marketing companies. But sadly not any of the offshore companies. You can register a mobile number to stop voice calls but sadly the TPS cannot currently (to my knowledge) stop unsolicited text messages. However, spam texts can be reported to the Information Commissioners Office by calling: 0303 123 1113 helpline.
