Care for Carers
Eat and sleep properly and always stay hydrated. Without these, you won’t be able to handle all of the every day, ongoing challenges.
You are going to be in hospitals and GP surgery waiting rooms rather a lot. So also ensure you make time to go outside and get some fresh air to clear your head.
When friends offer you help, make sure you accept it. As there will be times when you will need it.
Spend as much time as possible with your friends. As a carer, you cannot just spend time with your partner or the person you care for.
Do not be afraid to talk and speak up. You are never a nuisance. Your GP and Hospital Consultant will be happy to answer your questions if you are confused or just need more help and information.
And always talk to someone, if you need some emotional support.
